There is something I really want to write about, but I’m forcing myself to sort of stay focused. There are some things that I need to close the loop by updating you about what has happened, and I’ve heard that loose ends should be tied up quickly before readers lose interest.
Uh oh. I waited too long, didn’t I?
I could tease you like they do on the evening news, when they give you a little tidbit that seems interesting, and then follow it by adding “after the break.” But I won’t do that because that’s annoying! So I’ll get right to it…
In this post way back on October 24th, Timothy asked in a comment if I decided what color I was going to paint my nails. I cringe when I look at the date and see that it’s taken nearly 2 months, but yes, Timothy, I have! And a picture’s worth a thousand words:

In my last post, I previewed my ugly sweater creation, and a couple of you were curious about the results of the contest. SO, for the two of you who were interested, or feigned interest, haha, here’s a picture (another thousand words… this post is getting long):

In this recent post, I stated that I was on a mission to find out how many pictures one could take of sleeping cats. In the time since that post, I’ve added several to my collection (photos… not cats- yet!) Here’s my favorite one:

There is lots going on, and so much more I want to write about, but I think this post has been random enough. Until next time, have a wonderful week!
That sweater is coyote ugly!
I didn’t even notice the bones for buttons before.
Congrats on a well deserved win!
You did purple nails at Halloween and I died my hair purple.
Why? Because purple is FUN to say!
Great kitty pix.
Haha, your comment cracked me up! I think most of my co-workers were thinking, “she should have a random drug test… I can’t believe she wore that!” I stopped by my son’s school on the way to work to drop off a doctor’s note and the front office staff laughed. I can go back and say it’s an award-winning sweater 🙂
I forgot that I painted my nails briefly around that time. I guess this was a non-update then!
Timothy’s comment (dated 10/24) made me think “Halloween” . . . but this is the FIRST time I saw your purple nails. BTW: you look FAB and FESTIVE in your award winning sweater.
Thanks, Nancy!
I love the purple nails, and it’s so good to see you painted them — I’ll bet you had fun painting them too. The sweater is fab, and well worth making you the ugly sweater champ, but your smile and expression are so cute, I found it difficult to look at and evaluate the sweater. You really are a beautiful woman and your hair looks great, so was only the sweater that won the ugly award.
I like the shade of purple, but it’s already chipping off the tips. If I were to do this more regularly (which I’m pretty lazy, so I dunno about that!) I would need to get better quality supplies 🙂 I already have an idea for next year’s sweater, if they do it again. I should write it down because I’ll probably forget, haha. Thank you for the kind words, Timothy. I never like the way I look in photos so I avoid being in them, when possible!
That’s funny how we are such judges of ourselves in photos. You need to get more photos of yourself out there. Don’t hide your beautiful face and smile from the world. You can touch up the tips of the nails until they look too touched up and then redo them.
I ended up taking the polish off after a couple days. I used to do my nails a lot in high school, but I think I’ve just gotten lazy 🙂
Painting your nails is a good anti-depression activity.
It probably is… perhaps after the move my mind will open to giving it another shot… or just wearing gloves 😉
Yay, congratulations on winning the sweater contest! Your sweater makes me smile as does the big smile on your face. 🙂 And I love the purple nails too. The sleepy kitty pic is great. I wish I was napping like that right now, ha ha. Hope all the holiday busyness is going well!
I LOVE the sweater and the nails…..and the kitty cat made me smile. 🙂
Thanks, Susan! I’m a little jealous of how easily Lizzy can relax 🙂
Gee, I wish I could wear purple nail polish! My hands are just too fair for that, but I sneak purple onto my toenails now and then, and it’s amazing how fabulous it looks!! Janna, congrats on winning the ugly sweater contest — you look superb wearing it, by the way, and I’m with Timothy, you don’t need to hide your cuteness (no, my hair would never have that much curl, you lucky lady!!) Snoozing kitty is soooo relaxing!
Haha, I don’t pay much mind to what looks good – if I like it, I wear it. (That has come with age- I wasn’t always like that.) Cats really are relaxation experts… too bad that can’t be my paying job 🙂
Yay! You won! Such a cute picture too! I like your purple polish – I like blues and greens as well. I’m wearing an evergreen color now for the holidays! And the kitty sleeping is so adorable! Really makes me want a cat again! Very cute post 🙂
Thanks, Nurse Kelly. I bet the evergreen polish was pretty. I don’t experiment a lot with color, but I do enjoy admiring the works of art on the nails of people who do 🙂 Hope you had a happy new year. I think you’ve done a few posts, but I’m falling behind on reading again. I’ll have some time on Sunday to do some catching up (I shouldn’t admit that, or something will end up stealing it away!)
You’re welcome, Janna! Happy New Year to you as well! I know what you mean about catch up – no hurry at all. I am flattered that you read at all. Hope you are well. 🙂
Thanks, Nurse Kelly. I expect to find balance in 2016 🙂
That’s a great goal and I wish you the very best with it! xo
Thanks, Nurse Kelly 🙂
Very welcome, Janna!
Wonderful purple … wonderfuller sweater … wonderfullest kitteh! 😀
I like the progression, Widdershins! Can’t get much more awesome than a sleeping kitty. Hope your new year is off to a good start 🙂
Purple is a great colour, Janna and I love the nails 😀
Congratulations on winning the ugly sweater contest (LOL – so cool!)
…and I adore the kitty pic. It’s great to see animals that are loved xxxxx
Glad you stopped by, Dianne! Winning the contest was a fun surprise. I have taken way too many pictures of relaxing kitties. It’s sad, really.
1) LOVE the sweater!! I think it is considerably more festive than ugly. Definitely not ugly 🙂
2) I agree with Timothy … it’s a great picture of you!
3) There is no such thing as too many cat pictures 😉 … there is just *something* about a sleeping cat. They have that relaxed, comfortable cuteness thing down to a fine art.
You are too kind, Joanne… but perhaps hearing the bells all day might change your POV on the sweater 🙂 I’m so glad you are an appreciator of the kitty photos. Sometimes I just watch them sleep. Um, in a non-creepy way, of course, haha.
hahaha! I’m fascinated watching my big furball sleep. I think we could learn a lot from our cats on the subject of relaxing 😉
So glad I’m not the only kitty stalker 🙂 They are certainly relaxation pros… I’m jealous, really!
That is one ugly sweater and hate purple nails and not used to seeing your face and love the kitty. By the way I am manic an up since 4AM.
I’ve been reading your posts, and I’m glad to see the mania has improved, Tessa 🙂
I’ve noticed . . . yes, I don’t get out much! . . . that Kohl’s has a whole line of “ugly” products, sweaters, hats, jewelry. Go figure. Nice pictures, Janna. I like your hairstyle, fwiw. I’ve kept mine for ** years now, so I’m thinking of a change, but I don’t want to chop it off either. I don’t like the way I looked with short hair, but, then again, I’d not like any way that I appear! In any case, thanks for the updates. It sounds trite, but hang in there!
You get out more than I do, Leigh – I hadn’t noticed that at Kohl’s 🙂 Hairstyles are such a pain. I always wanted longer hair, but then I’d get tired of the maintenance and just pull it back into a bun to get it out of my face. I could pull that off better at 17 than at 40, so I try to keep a cut that forces me to put some effort into it (but not so much effort that I want to go in and have it shaved off!) I hope your new year is off to a wonderful start.
Oh, don’t get me started on hair! . . . Ah, yeah, I’ve been to Kohl’s about 3-4 times in the last 6 months, for some things the kids are particular about (daughter has this thing about textures on her clothing). Otherwise, I honestly avoid dept. stores like the plague, as the saying goes. I’m a thrift store person . . . I can’t begin to tell you the deals I’ve gotten (and prevented stuff from going into landfills) by buying and donating to Salvation Army, Goodwill, etc. Anyway, I hope your Christmas and New Year’s were less hectic and more peaceful and healing. My new year is going better than the end of the last, so I hope it keeps on and that the world at large hitches onto the Hope/Peace Train I’m on (so to speak).
I like thrift stores, too. In Phoenix, I like Savers – I got a dressier shirt for work for $3.10 a few weeks ago (funny thing is, it’s a Kohl’s shirt- Apt 9 – and I’ve bought similar ones new for much more than that!) I was just in Kohl’s a couple times last weekend because my younger son has outgrown the jeans I got him a few months ago and a Kohl’s brand is the only one I can get to fit him where there’s room to grow, but I’m not seeing too much of his backside 🙂 So glad to hear your new year is an improvement over the ending of 2015… may that trend continue for you, Leigh!
My granddaughter wanted dark purple nail polish for Christmas. The bottle I got looks similar to yours. I hope she likes it. Congratulations on the win! I like your curly hair. That is the sweetest sleeping-kitty photo ever. I can see why you’d want several!
I hope she liked the polish too, Patti! I’m glad you liked the sleeping kitty pic… I have soooo many pictures.
We should share pictures of our most outrageous jumpers (sweaters) – wouldn’t that be fun! I’ve been on the hunt for a frightening Christmas jumper, though I’m not sure I can top last year. I love the challenge, though! 😀
I think that’s a fun idea, Mel. Did you ever find the right ugly sweater? I have some ideas for next year, if they do the contest again.
No. I’ve lost quite a few things in this house! Usually, I find things when I don’t want them anymore 😉
Boy, can I relate to that! I swear there’s some kind of gremlin that hides stuff just to mess with my mind 🙂
Lol! I have his brother at my house 😀
Kids… that’s a great way for things to disappear!
Oh yes! It’s funny how many of my things go walkabout!
🙂
Haha, I love these pics! The sweater looks awesome 🙂 And your hair is great!
Thanks, God Girl – I’m glad you stopped by 🙂
Three of my favorite things!! Purple, yes it’s fun to say and to wear and to decorate with! Ugly sweaters are awesome, even tho I’m not brave enough to wear them, congrats on winning…And sleeping cat pics really are the best–a co-worker brought his cat in after a trip to the vet and she came and slept in my desk, had to take 4 pictures of her in the hour she slept in my desk-I’m pretty sure she wanted me to take her home.
I’m soooo glad it’s not just me who can’t resist the sleeping cat photo, Rachml 🙂
Thanks for the updates, and the posters to boot!
Thanks for stopping by, Allen!
Nothing’s better than an “ugly” sweater like that… who wouldn’t love a sleeping cat?
A sleeping cat is much better than a rambunctious one in the middle of the night 🙂 I hope your new year is off to a good start, Bjorn.
delightful, humorous and I love dogs and sleeping cats with purple nails! Jingle those bells and Merry Christmas and all the best of the season!
Thanks for stopping by, and for your fun comment, TDM. I’m shocked at how much time has gone by since I’ve had a chance to blog. Yikes! Hope your new year has started well 🙂
Purple is great! All these sweaters – who knew people would actually have stores for them? As it was 80 today, this year will be the Ugly Christmas Tshirt!
80 in December just seems unnatural (and living in Phoenix for so long, I’ve experienced lots of strange weather!)
