“Like this climb, our relationship is an adventure.  With you, Isabelle, I feel like I can soar.  Will you…”  He pats his pockets.  “Can’t find the ring…”

“I hope you can fly, Roberto.”

TrifectaPicture11-1This is my response to this weekend’s Trifecta photo prompt.  The editors asked for exactly 33 words inspired by the photo above.

I hope you have a beautiful weekend (and don’t have to find out if you can fly!)

Let’s hope he doesn’t have to find out, Newwhitebear 🙂

    • jannatwrites May 31, 2013 / 10:11 AM

Shakespeare might like it…he was into tragedies 🙂 Thanks for reading, Phil!

  1. joetwo May 31, 2013 / 9:16 AM

She sounds rather harsh there! Maybe it is a good thing there won’t be a wedding! Nice piece! 🙂

    • jannatwrites May 31, 2013 / 10:11 AM

I know, right? Shouldn’t she at least see the ring first? 😛 Thanks for reading, Joe!

  2. aregularcupofjo May 31, 2013 / 9:24 AM

Great writing. I really enjoyed reading. Keep up the awesome work 🙂

    • jannatwrites May 31, 2013 / 10:12 AM

        • jannatwrites June 2, 2013 / 1:16 PM

I will definitely check it out…may take a day or two because of my limited computer access the last couple days (takes a bit to get caught up :))

        • aregularcupofjo June 2, 2013 / 1:18 PM

Thats fine 🙂 I really appreciate it 🙂

  3. Colline May 31, 2013 / 9:25 AM

    What a stunning view!

    • jannatwrites May 31, 2013 / 10:13 AM

Yes, it is, Colline. I wouldn’t mind being perched there, as long as I didn’t have to fly!

      • Colline May 31, 2013 / 1:19 PM

        I would agree with you!

  4. vishalbheeroo May 31, 2013 / 9:54 AM

Superb and well done in 33 words and the pic:)

    • jannatwrites May 31, 2013 / 10:13 AM

Thanks so much for reading, Vishal! These 33-word writing challenges are fun 🙂

  5. Valerie May 31, 2013 / 10:06 AM

Poor Roberto! It’s a long way down!

This was a great little 33 words you wrote here:)

    • jannatwrites May 31, 2013 / 10:15 AM

I bet he didn’t pack a parachute, either. Thanks for stopping by, Valerie!

  6. SuziCate May 31, 2013 / 10:27 AM

I love this one! I hope Roberto can dig a little deeper and his pocket and finger it…I’d hate to learn to fly from there!

    • jannatwrites June 2, 2013 / 1:17 PM

I hope he finds it, too, SuziCate! (I doubt she’d push him, though.)

  7. nrhatch May 31, 2013 / 10:30 AM

    That’s hysterical . . . thanks, Janna.

    • jannatwrites June 2, 2013 / 1:17 PM

Glad you found it funny, Nancy – it was supposed to be 🙂 (Silliness on Friday seemed like the way to go!)

    • jannatwrites June 2, 2013 / 1:18 PM

😛 Glad you found the humor in it, Widdershins! (Could this be why marriage rates are dropping? :))

  8. Michael May 31, 2013 / 11:29 AM

I love how all the takes on this I’ve read so far have been on the silly side. This one’s hysterical. Looks like Isabelle wants to give their relationship a little push. 😀

    • jannatwrites June 2, 2013 / 1:19 PM

Puts new meaning into “taking the plunge”, right? I like the silliness, too, Michael!

  9. Debbie May 31, 2013 / 11:46 AM

Does she really love him, or is she merely a gold-digger?!

    • jannatwrites June 2, 2013 / 1:20 PM

She could be a gold-digger or a she’s teasing, Debbie. (Depends on how the reader interprets it.) But if she pushes him, she won’t get the gold (or diamonds!)

  10. September Dreams May 31, 2013 / 12:09 PM

Great piece Janna… I just hope he was searching the wrong pocket and finds the ring in another 🙂

    • jannatwrites June 2, 2013 / 1:20 PM

He just might, September Dreams. I imagine the nerves of the hike and proposal have him flustered!

  11. Sandra May 31, 2013 / 1:03 PM

Actually, this kind of made me smile. I like the humor in it, and that she was joking, as that’s how I read this. And now that song is running through my head and should be the played were this a movie: I believe I can fly… 🙂 Happy Friday!

    • jannatwrites June 2, 2013 / 1:22 PM

Oh, I hope I don’t get that song in my head, Sandra! I’m glad you saw the humor..I like seeing how others react to it – whether they think she’s joking or serious…could go either way!

  12. Christine May 31, 2013 / 2:14 PM

Ooops. 🙂 Of course, in the next 33 words it’s revealed that Roberto is a superhero, and can, in fact, fly. *grin*

    • jannatwrites June 2, 2013 / 1:22 PM

Hahaha! Good one, Christine…. maybe in the 33 words after that, we find out that Roberto left her for Lois!

  13. GodGirl May 31, 2013 / 3:16 PM

I can imagine Isabelle saying this with a twinkle in her eye… I hope he comes through for her 🙂

    • jannatwrites June 2, 2013 / 1:23 PM

I’m sure he will, GodGirl…it’s the sentiment that counts (and she would get her ring as soon as he figures out where he put it!)

  14. Eric Alagan May 31, 2013 / 4:38 PM

First he forgets the ring, then he is dumb enough to mention that he has forgotten the ring —- she got herself a winner there 🙂

    • Scriptor Obscura May 31, 2013 / 7:26 PM

      😆 Love your comment. 🙂

    • jannatwrites June 2, 2013 / 1:53 PM

My, you guys are harsh! (I thought the guys would be more likely to cut him some slack – boy was I wrong!) In his defense, he is nervous and is thinking out loud. He may not be that bad!

      • Eric Alagan June 2, 2013 / 4:39 PM

I’m sorry, Janna – you are right. He is not bad – he is worse 🙂

When I meet him, we’ll probably have a good laugh – a guy thing, perhaps!

I am bad today – need my morning cuppa 🙂

  15. Suzanne May 31, 2013 / 7:01 PM

Poor Roberto. As if he isn’t nervous enough already! 😀 Great take on the prompt Janna!

    • jannatwrites June 2, 2013 / 1:53 PM

Now he has to contemplate whether she is serious or not! Thanks for reading, Suzanne!

  16. Diane Turner May 31, 2013 / 7:07 PM

So much said in those 33 words. Great use of the prompt. Thanks for sharing.

    • jannatwrites June 2, 2013 / 1:54 PM

I appreciate you taking time to read it and share your comment, Diane!

  17. Draug419 May 31, 2013 / 8:47 PM

Awww, but it’s the thought that counts, right? She should give him some credit! (:

    • jannatwrites June 2, 2013 / 1:55 PM

She might give him credit, but she might also decide to tease him about it til death they do part, Draug 🙂

  18. Carol Ann Hoel May 31, 2013 / 9:48 PM

You can really pack a punch into a brief few words. Amazing! Blessings to you, Janna…

    • jannatwrites June 2, 2013 / 1:55 PM

Thanks, so much, Carol Ann. I’m glad you stopped by to read it!

    • jannatwrites June 2, 2013 / 1:56 PM

We just don’t know if his fall is figurative or literal, Yarrpirate!

  19. diannegray June 1, 2013 / 4:11 AM

Wow – you can say so much in so few words, that is a real talent, Janna! 😀

    • jannatwrites June 2, 2013 / 1:57 PM

Thanks for the kind compliment, Dianne…I can also say not very much in many words….but I think most of us have a knack for that, at least from time to time 🙂

  20. mademoisellemv June 1, 2013 / 4:22 AM

Great prompt! Nice twist… for the reader! (“great minds think alike” one more time but with a very different take of the challenge) 😉

    • jannatwrites June 2, 2013 / 1:58 PM

Ooh, now I’m curious what you wrote. I’m going to try to read the rest of the entries tonight. I tried to read and comment using my phone last night, but it was just too irritating for me!

  21. Tina June 1, 2013 / 7:35 AM

Haha! I hope he finds it, for his sake!

    • jannatwrites June 2, 2013 / 1:59 PM

Life will be easier if he does find it. I don’t know which is worse: being forced to ‘fly’ now, or enduring a lifetime of teasing from her! Thanks for reading, Tina 🙂

  22. Linda Vernon June 1, 2013 / 11:16 AM

Janna you always come up with the best stuff! 😀

    • jannatwrites June 2, 2013 / 2:00 PM

I don’t know about that, Linda…but I’m glad you enjoyed it!

  23. Renada Styles June 1, 2013 / 12:41 PM

haha, almost the perfect romantic scene. almost.

    • jannatwrites June 2, 2013 / 2:00 PM

It’s always romantic…until someone has to fly 🙂

  24. oscarjamieson June 1, 2013 / 8:15 PM

Hah! Great little piece, quiet funny. I like the realism of the conversation.

    • jannatwrites June 2, 2013 / 2:01 PM

Thanks, Oscar! I’m glad you enjoyed this one 🙂

  25. Joe Owens June 2, 2013 / 4:45 AM

If her fuse is that short maybe he is blessed to have lost the ring.

    • jannatwrites June 2, 2013 / 2:03 PM

If she is indeed serious, the lost ring would be in his favor. On the other hand, if she’s teasing, it could lighten the mood. Thanks for reading, Joe!

  26. pattisj June 2, 2013 / 10:33 AM

I guess her answer is no!

    • jannatwrites June 2, 2013 / 2:03 PM

Maybe…maybe not! Thanks for reading, Patti!

  27. Sam Edge, Writer June 2, 2013 / 9:26 PM

Well, we both wrote about throwing partners off the Edge 🙂 I will see you around.

  28. Kir Piccini June 3, 2013 / 7:26 AM

I’m hoping the ring is in his backpack 😉 it’s a long way down.

(also a part of me wishes that it’s not the ring she covets , but him. that’s the romantic fool i am. )

    • jannatwrites June 3, 2013 / 9:01 PM

I wouldn’t say you’re a romantic fool, Kir…I think we’d all want to be loved for us and not the possessions we can give someone 🙂

  29. Sarah Ann June 3, 2013 / 12:20 PM

Very funny. Although, she sounds a bit moody. I’m not sure she’s worth it.

  30. Tessa June 10, 2013 / 9:57 AM

I am a little behind. Great job, love the story!
