This is my Trifecta weekend challenge entry, written about Kathryn Stockett’s novel, The Help.  I read so many books, (many of them I like.)  Since I couldn’t pick a favorite, I went with something I’d read recently.   The challenge instructions are shown below, if you want to give it a try yourself.  (You can click on the Tricycle picture to go to the Trifecta website):

“This week we’re revisiting an early Trifextra prompt: retelling.  This time, we’re asking you to retell your favorite book.  In 33 words.  Nothing like a challenge.”

Dang, YABTR !!!! (Yet Another Book To Read). Now thanks to your 33 I want to read this just to find out why Bryce Howard’s middle name is Dallas – no actually to find out why her nickname is “Two Slice”.

    • jannatwrites June 22, 2012 / 4:24 PM

If you don’t have time for the book, you can always cheat and watch the movie 🙂 Thanks for stopping by, HaikuWater!

  2. Cathy June 22, 2012 / 10:02 AM

More reviews should be written as such!

    • jannatwrites June 22, 2012 / 4:26 PM

My reviews can be summed up as “I liked it” or “Didn’t like it”. Easy, right? 🙂

      • pattisj June 22, 2012 / 10:07 PM

        That’s what I’d do! lol

        • jannatwrites June 24, 2012 / 7:20 AM

We could read a lot more reviews that way 🙂

  6. punnypalaver June 22, 2012 / 1:55 PM

Love that–a favorite of mine and you had to close with two-slice Hilly! Excellent!

    • jannatwrites June 22, 2012 / 4:28 PM

Oh, I couldn’t leave Hilly out! She’s the character I love to hate. Thanks for stopping by, Punny!

  7. Hannah Gosselin June 22, 2012 / 3:27 PM

Yup, you nailed it — read the book and watched the movie. Loved both!

    • jannatwrites June 22, 2012 / 8:19 PM

Glad I got the main parts. There was so much more to the book, too. Thanks for stopping by, Debbie!

    OMG

I love this book. Last summer when I was riding the bus for three months home from work – I read this book. It was so appropriate and empathetic that I read it while riding the bus because of the characters.

What a great trifecta! 2-Slice Hilly yeah!

And it was a wonderful movie also with great actors playing the characters so perfectly.

  10. jannatwrites June 22, 2012 / 8:22 PM

You are actually why I read the book, Patty. You’d made some comments about it and it sounded like a good book. You were right 🙂

  11. OldDogNewTits June 22, 2012 / 10:14 PM

  13. trifectawriting June 23, 2012 / 4:51 AM

Thanks for linking up with Trifextra this weekend. This book was already on my list of those to read, but you may have bumped it closer to the top with your teaser. Nice job!

Hope you’ll come back on Monday for our 33rd Challenge Celebration!

    • jannatwrites June 24, 2012 / 7:26 AM

I liked both the tension and the humor of the book. I’m glad it’s on your list!

  14. Libby June 23, 2012 / 11:37 AM

I think you did an excellent job summarizing this book in 33 words!

    • jannatwrites June 24, 2012 / 7:28 AM

Thanks, Libby. I wanted a book that many have read so it might make sense 🙂

  15. Sandra June 23, 2012 / 4:39 PM

This was one of my favorite books read last year. I read the entire thing in 5 days. Couldn’t put it down. Great entry!

    • jannatwrites June 24, 2012 / 7:32 AM

I’m glad you enjoyed the book, too, Sandra. It felt like a real glimpse into a part of our history that I (thankfully) wasn’t alive to see.

  16. davidvanhaydu June 23, 2012 / 7:33 PM

  18. Ruby Manchanda June 23, 2012 / 11:55 PM

Wonderful response – like the one they put on the back covers. It tells and yet it does not tell. I loved this.

    • jannatwrites June 24, 2012 / 7:37 AM

It’s funny how I could write this, but not a summary of my own novel 🙂 glad you stopped by, Ruby!

  19. Renada Styles June 24, 2012 / 12:48 PM

you captured the sum of the tale exquisitely and concisely. well done.
