Some say greener grass
Grows just across the fence.
But happiness is a choice
Between restless or content.
Anyway, since a calf can’t climb-
You play on your side,
I’ll graze on mine.

This is my entry for the Trifecta weekend photo challenge. This one is community voted, so if you like it, please visit the Trifecta site on Sunday to vote. If you don’t like it, you should still visit the site to vote because people much more creative than me post entries 🙂 The instructions given are as follows:
“Please give us a creative piece inspired by the photo below. You have two options for word count: you can either give us 33 words or 333 words. Please note: we are not asking for a post between 33 and 333 words. We are asking for a post that is exactly 33 words or exactly 333 words. Your choice. “
Love this!
Thanks for reading, Tikk Tok 🙂
hahaha I love your response. 🙂
I’m glad you liked it, Imelda. Thanks!
I LOVE this! Perfect wisdom in just a few lines.
Thanks, Suzicate! I’m glad you liked this one 🙂
Seems like that cow ain’t got much pasture land. Urban living I guess.
Yeah, and it looks like it’s on the street side of the barrier as well.
I hope the drivers are paying attention, Widdershins 🙂
Well, Carl, can’t tell from the picture, but I like to think his pasture is across the road…if he can dodge the cars.
Nice piece … So, what would you do with 333 words and this photo?
I don’t know for sure…I do know it would be from the calf’s point of view. Perhaps I’d write something about the adventure of getting across the road and the girl just ignoring him.
I love this poetry
Thanks, Newwhitebear. I’m glad you liked it 🙂
What a difficult challenge! You got it, though, and that’s what counts! Nice job!
I took the easy route – I did the short word count 🙂 Thanks for reading, Debbie!
Amen. Cute take on things. 🙂
Thanks, ODNT. Just wanted to keep it light and happy this weekend 🙂
Very nice! It fits the photo perfectly.
Thanks, Chlost. It was the first idea I thought of, so I just went with it 🙂
Well done Janna. I guess with the urban sprawl cows have to find gras where they ca. 🙂
Thanks for stopping by, Judith. Looks like times are lean, for sure!
Sweet – but I’ll say I think the grazing is mighty thin there…
Yeah, it does look sparse…but I like to think there’s more grass outside the frame of the photo 🙂 Thanks for reading, Jester Queen!
This came across as a little sing-songish and I love it.
More asphalt than grass though…clever little girl stays on her side…
I bet the girl’s parents are happy she stays on that side, too, Eric! I’m glad you like the poem…thanks for stopping by to check it out.
That was perfect!
Thanks, Laurie!
I love the poem and it really goes with the picture.
Thanks for reading, Tessa. I’m glad you liked the poem 🙂
this is an outstanding piece. I absolutely adored this entry.
I’m glad you enjoyed the poem. Thanks for stopping by, Ruby!
I like very much that it comes from the calf’s point of view!
I wanted to do something a little different. I’m glad you enjoyed it, Vivinfrance 🙂
Very cute!
Thanks, Sandra!
As I gaze at this one, the reflection is growing that the word play is amusing as well as wise. (Glazed over yet? Gleaning from the green!)
I like your way with words, Phil. I’m glad you found the ‘play’ amusing 🙂
I “went there, too,” the grass is greener…I really enjoyed your version!!
I’ll check it out tonight, Hannah. I love to see what others come up with. Thanks for stopping by to read my entry!
You’re so welcome, I do too!! 🙂
Thought you might like to read a VERY different take on that same picture from another blog I subscribe to:

Thanks, Widdershins! I subscribe to Scriptor, also, so I’ll be sure to check it out 🙂
Nice! And, the title, Green Grass and Happiness, sounds like a song from the 60s! 🙂
Hmmm…maybe it was, Libby. Thanks for checking it out. Peace!
🙂
Love.
Thanks for reading, Kelly!
Aloha, from one “Janna T.” to another! I go by Kana now (my Hawai’ian husband’s transliteration to his language-without-a-letter-J) but my first name is Janna… And I’m glad I found you–it was the name that caught my attention (Janna-with-2-Ns is so rare!) but I love your writing. 🙂
I haven’t “met” very many “Jannas” either, so I am glad you stopped by, too 🙂 I like the translation of Kana. It does sound so Hawaiian…and I love Hawaii (we visited Maui in April and ever since, I’ve been trying to figure out how I can move there 🙂
That’s definitely OUR plan! 🙂 We have an acre waiting for us on the Big Island, and we’re intending to open a Bed & Breakfast… But that’ll be a few years down the road (we’re anchored in Idaho for now by joint custody of my kids)… Here’s to big dreams! 🙂
Good luck on your dream, Kana! When you open the B&B, I’d visit! (We’re likely going to be stuck on the mainland, but I can still visit paradise :))
Thank you so much for linking up to Trifextra this weekend. The challenge this weekend will be judged by the community. So please come back to the Trifecta home page and click the stars next to the three posts you most enjoyed. You only have until Monday at 8 am EST, so hurry!
The photo challenge was fun…thanks!
Janna, I love the sweetness of this. What a lovely little poem.
Thanks, Christine. I’m glad you enjoyed it 🙂
quite true,
and cute write
Thanks for reading, Renada!
I really like this one!
Thanks, Janet. I’m rather surprised at the positive response it received.
Congratulations on placing in Trifecta!! This is very sweet indeed. I didn’t comment the first time I read it since I was on my phone (that not-so-smart-phone), which tends to leave multiple (like 4) comments. But I’m back, and great job, Janna!
Thanks, Sandra! Seeing as though I narrowed my voting list down to five, I was shocked that my piece placed this week.
Congratulations, Janna. 🙂
Thanks, Imelda. I was quite surprised to place in the voting 🙂
