Haley Joel Osment sees dead people in the movie, The Sixth Sense. I don’t see dead people, but I see typos. Everywhere I look, I see misspelled words, wrong usage of words or incomplete sentences. I see it in e-mails, books, professional documents and even a few literary agent websites. Of course, I don’t let them know…I’m not completely crazy!
This is funny to me because as I go through my novel – again, I find typos that I missed the other 521 times I’ve read it. It sure would be nice if I could get better at finding mistakes in my own work, at least by the time I get to my third review.
If I can get through a review without catching any typos, I’ll know that I’ve (a) finally got it perfect; (b) fallen asleep; or (c) read it so many times that I just don’t care. At the rate I’m going, it’ll be (b), then (c) and I’ll never get to (a)!
