Poem – Shrinking Away

I’m still in the revisions phase of my book, so I don’t have any new perspective there.  Thought I’d change it up today and do poetry; it doesn’t happen often.

Shrinking Away

Grasping at a thread of hope;

perilously close to chaos.

Muscles throbbing,

palms sweaty,

sliding to the end,

so close; can’t hang on.

Sadness is a force like gravity;

try to resist

the turmoil of negativity;

but still slipping

Light fades dimmer,

anger grows stronger.

The weary body

slowly gives in.

The aching soul

withers against the demons.

The thread now taut,

threatening to unravel.

Has the battle been fought?

Can hope still prevail?
